In the past 50 or more, the performance of hair care formulations has been achieved by the use of synthetic and petrochemical-derived quat polymers. SymFeel Quat Green® is a green cationic copolymer to replace synthetic PQ-7 and PQ-10, which are still largely used in hair care applications (82% of the global shampoo launches in the latest 3 years contained such polyquats). SymFeel Quat Green® is an ingredient that forms a film on the hair surface, enhancing the condition of its cuticles and providing improved sensory properties that consumers can directly perceive.
For the hair care market, efficacy is not negotiable. Bio-based alternatives must present similar or superior performance to synthetic polyquats to be accepted.
