Synopsis

Beira Interior, a Portuguese Interior region, is responsible for the production of 60% of cherries in Portugal. The cultivation of this fruit represents around 2000 hectares of cherry trees and 7000 tons of cherries, estimating an annual income of 20 million euros into the region’s economy.

Many industries from the region are dedicated to the production of jam, pastries and other gastronomy products from cherries. These activities generate a large amount of cherry Seeds as a surplus from the transforming activities.

Most exfoliant particles found in the market are mainly presented by synthetic products. The cherry seeds exfoliant particles are made from a natural product and present less environmental impact since are made from surplus of the cultivation of the fruit in Portugal interior region.

This solution offers the benefits of exfoliants particles and presents to the consumer a more natural and sustainable option, contributes to the upcycling of the fruit and surplus, and supports the local economy of a small region in Portugal.
